Henry and Elder Martinez

Here's Henry and his companion Elder Martinez who is from Texas.

Heading out for some lunch after a Zone Conference...

Henry, Elder Martinez and the two missionaries serving in Ironton. Ironton is just a short drive away from Farmington. The Ironton missionaries share the same P-Day as the Farmington missionaries. Henry says that a lot of P-Days are spent goofing around with these guys. They've gone bowling, eaten a lot of Mc Donalds, and generally just been goofy guys on a day off.

Tour de Henry's Pad in Farmington, MO

We thought it might be fun for you to take a tour of Henry's place in Farmington, Missouri. So sit back, imagine the life of Henry the Missionary, and enjoy the tour de Farmington! They live in one side of a little duplex in Farmington, Missouri. Near a cul-de-sac and under the shadows of a ginormous water tower.

This is where Henry and his companion, Elder Martinez live. They wake up at 6:30 in the morning, exercise and have a quick breakfast. Then they get ready for the day, and have an hour of personal scripture study followed by another hour of companionship scripture study. They pray a lot and head out the door for the day. The spend their days sharing the Gospel and return home and the end of each day feeling...well, really tired. However, in addition to tired they feel happy and satisfied knowing they are doing the Lord's work. What an experience!!

Here is a picture Henry took of snow in Missouri. We can just imagine how excited Henry was to see snow. Sorry, Elder Adams; no skiing this year!

This is Henry and his companion's room. Ha ha ha, can you guess which side is Henry's? If you know him at all, you know his side is the Left side. In fact, Henry told us that he cleaned the WHOLE duplex down within a few days of arriving there. He said it was...pretty gross. After a good cleaning, I think he was ready to call it home.

Here is the lovely "Toyota" they spend a lot of their time in...

Notice Henry's oober packed and un-organized closet, lol. Got to love the 'wardrobe!'

Personal Scripture Study...

Here is how Henry does his Personal Scripture Study. Makes the hour go by nicely. "Hey Elder Adams, save some of those M&M's for your Companionship Study!!"

A short clip...

We realized the camera we sent Henry with can take very short video clips. Here is Henry back in October, um, entertaining his fellow missionaries. Henry, we appreciate your silly mode and am certain that it aides you in the mission field as well. Thanks for making us laugh!

Update Letter to the Davis Creek 3rd Ward

"Hey Davis Creek 3rd Ward! It's been really nice to hear from those of you who have written me! Missouri is wonderful! I'm serving in Farmington, MO, which I find really ironic but also really cool. The work is going great, since I've come out we've had 2 baptisms; and as of last night, set a date for a 3rd on January 2nd! So the work is really moving forward. One thing I've really learned out here is how true this church really is. Of course I know it is, but I had no idea how strongly it proves itself. This church is undoubtedly the one and only true church of Jesus Christ. I know it with all of my heart, and its such an amazing experience to see investigators come to know it for themselves too.

One experience I'd really like to share; one of our newest investigators named Bobby. We were teaching him and watched the 'Restoration,' DVD with him. As soon as the DVD was over he asked us, "I really want to read some of that book. (the Book of Mormon) Can you get me a copy?" And of course we did. And he has been reading. But as we finished teaching him on our second visit he told us that after studying and looking for religion for 22 YEARS, we've made more sense to him than anyone. I really enjoy meeting with Bobby. The Spirit is always really strong in our appointments with him.

I just want to bear testimony that I know Joseph Smith saw what he saw, and I know that this truly is, a great, and marvelous work. And I'm proud to be a part of it. I hope all is going well in Farmington, Utah! I love you all so much and I am so grateful for all the great examples you have all been to me as I've grown up. Keep up the good work!

~ Elder Adams

p.s. all you young men, get out there and serve the Lord with all your heart, might, mind, and strength. Represent. DC3!

Posted by Henry's sisters and Mom :)Here is something from Henrys last letter.
It's gotten fall extremely fast here! It seems like one day everything was green, then the next day everything was red, orange and yellow. It's really pretty tho. There's TONS of trees here. But seriously this past almost 2 months feels like a few days now that it's over... it's insane. But yeah, I'm doing fine. We had a baptism last Saturday, and a confirmation yesterday! It was a wonderful experience, the Spirit was really strong. And you could seen the Holy Ghost in her countenance after she was confirmed. There was just a glow to her that she didn't have before. It was truly amazing. I really enjoyed it. We also have another baptism scheduled in November, so now I'm excited for that too.
