Phone Call Highlights

Henry was able to call home from the airport yesterday.  He sounded great.
Here are some highlights:
-He did his own laundry at the MTC, but it wasn't to hard because the washers only have two buttons whites or colors.
-He actually spent some money...not a Henry thing to do...he bought a natural leather bound journal...very cool and a few other supplies.
-He has met a lot of people....some very interesting and some not so much
-He and another elder made up a game...they killed some time by trying to toss pennies into each others shirt pockets! ha ha ha
-He is very excited to get to St. Louis...he said they keep learning that their purpose is to help bring others to Christ and he is excited to get out and fulfill his purpose.
-He was the Leader at the airport...so he had to make sure everyone got on the plane!
-He is doing great for now, but is not sure how things will be when ski season hits! At least its fairly flat in St. Louis.
-He wants his friends to write him!  Especially two....You know who you are!
-He is learning a lot!
-He hopes his Blog is awesome!! ha ha ha
-well a lot more but I can't remember any more. I was just so excited to talk to him and now I can't remember it all! oh well...He is going to be great and we are very excited for him.
You rock little brother!

Letters and Travels and that's what she said...

Henry sent us a letter last week from the MTC before he left.

In true Henry form, he had us laughing before we even READ the letter. Why, you ask? Because his 'stationary' for his mission is Dunder Mifflin paper that reads "That's what she said..." at the top. Classic Henry. Oh we miss you!! His letter basically said that he's doing great but is really excited to get out of the MTC and into the Mission Field. Yesterday was the big travel day. My Mom and Dad talked to Henry for a bit on the phone before his flight left. Henry told my dad that he was assigned to be the Travel Director for the 17 missionaries all flying on the same flight to St. Louis. I guess it was his responsibility to make sure all 17 made it safely there. Henry said he's enjoying getting to know all these other missionaries and has made some new friends. My mom said he sounds really happy.

The MTC

Today Henry went to the MTC.  It was quite the adventure. We had breakfast at the O-Hop on the way. Yum.  A nice lady came over and asked Henry where he was going on his mission without even knowing he was going on a mission..I guess he stands out!
We stopped by the Temple to take some pictures.

Henry didn't want a picture with his awesome sister!  But we got one.
It was very sad to drive away, but we are all very happy for Henry.
He is off for his awesome adventure.

Trip to the Temple...

Henry received his own endowment at the Bountiful Temple. It was a very special day and we were all glad we could be there as a family together. Seeing all of our family in the temple together was just a reminder of how important it is that Henry is serving a mission. We are blessed with the knowledge Eternal Families and find so much joy and peace in that knowledge. However, there are so many wonderful people out there who don't know that they can be with their families after death - as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Henry will have the opportunity of serving his Heavenly Father by sharing His message. The Temple is such a perfect and beautiful place, it's no wonder the Spirit can be felt so amazingly strong there. After when we were at dinner eating the most yummiest chocolate cake ever we asked Henry what he thought of his first trip to the Temple. He said it was "awesome." And it is!

Farewell

Sunday, August 16th was Henry's farewell.  He gave a great farewell talk all about the cause and effect of putting God first in your life.  After the farewell family, neighbors and friends came by for food and lots of visiting.  It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
